We all know it, have heard it, and probably don’t need to be reminded again that leading a healthy lifestyle and exercising regularly can help us live longer, stronger and disease free.
The problem is most of us lack the discipline and knowledge to even know where to begin. That is why we can benefit greatly from the services of a personal trainer. Montreal based Be Training is here to provide you with the conditions you need to reach your goals, no matter your fitness level, athletic expertise or interest.
Our personal trainer and athletic therapy services are exclusively offered in home, in office or even at an outdoor park of your choice. Our mandate is to make physical fitness and wellness as affordable, convenient, and effective as possible. All you have to do is choose the time and place. There are no gym memberships, no expensive equipment, and no hassles.
Together our team makes us the best personal trainer Montreal has to offer, and this we express with pride. Our trainers have been selected for their qualifications, natural ability to motivate, and in-depth expertise on all aspects of the human body.
What you didn't know about your Be Training Trainers.
SHERRY SHABAN, Founder
Qualifications: BSc Athletic Therapy with great distinction, BSc Biochemistry, Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C), Sports First Responder, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), Certified Personal Trainer through CanFitPro and the YMCA
Sport: Swimming and Kickboxing
Specialty: Oh, you gotta try my "Terrible Ten"
A life-changing moment: I got hit by a car when I was 17, herniated 3 lumbar discs and got operated on when I was 18. My doctor told me I could never play sports again. I knew I would never accept that.
Why the fitness/therapy gig: There is an obstacle in every person's path to wellness. It took me several years to realize that I could overcome mine. I wanted to help others do the same, whether the obstacle is an injury or an unhealthy lifestyle habit.
Best known by clients for: My creativity when it comes to intense exercise.
Favorite exercise: Definitely the plank. You require every single muscle in your body to hold a proper plank.
Biggest weakness: Chocolate. Chocolate cake. Chocolate cheese cake. Chocolate cookies.
Greatest challenge when it comes to wellness: Setting your priorities straight. It's tough to make time for yourself with two kids under the age of two. But I realize that ultimately everything I do (or don't do) will shape their lives. I want to always be a positive role model for them and want them to believe that the sky is the limit.
Secret to achieving wellness: Viewing failure as a motivational tool for self-improvement. That and finding realistic balance.
Biggest fear: Spiders. Why the many legs?
My message to others: The only thing that stands in your way to achieving your most optimal self is you.

MARIE-SOLEIL HARVEY
Qualifications: BSc in Athletic Therapy; Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology Certified Personal Trainer; Canadian Forces Personnel Support Agency Fitness Trainer; National Coaching Certification Program Level 2 Swimming Coach
Sport: Swimming and triathlon are MY sports, but I LOVE to watch hockey and rugby or any sport of a violent nature…(I do have a morbid fascination with pain…haha)
Specialty: Other than making my clients suffer?? I do make really good cookies…
A life-changing moment: After 8 months of being injured in 2008-2009 I decided to change my training habits to be more efficient and less extreme (while still remaining intense!) and understanding the importance of resting as hard as you train.
Why the fitness/therapy gig: When I stopped swimming competitively I needed a way to stay in shape. I hired a personal trainer to get me started in the gym and I started taking aerobics classes and I realized I could do the job just as well (if not better) than them! So I took a course in personal training, and I started subbing for aerobics instructors in several gyms until I got good enough to take on my own classes. I got into athletic therapy because I wanted to know how to take care of my own injuries, having had some shoulder problems from swimming in the past.
Best known by clients for: PAIN…they think of me when they are too sore to walk down the stairs after one of my workouts…
Favorite exercise: PUSH-UPS! (all kinds of push-ups from jump push-ups, to BBQ push-ups, to diamond push-ups, to dive push-ups etc….) I also love squats and burpees, and any combination of the above into some kind of super-set is awesome!
Biggest weakness: peanut butter (Kraft smooth…shhhh but don’t tell anyone…)
Greatest challenge when it comes to wellness: NOT eating peanut butter…it’s soooo good!
Secret to achieving wellness: Finding balance (which as it turns out changes constantly in life…it is such a transitory state). By constantly seeking self-improvement (without being constantly discontent with your current state) you can achieve that transitory state of balance. It is a lifelong process to maintain it, and you may have phases where you are out-of-balance, but to remain focused and tolerant of these harder times will help you to regain that state of peace later on. It is ok to fall on hard times; you just have to be willing to work to get back on top of things.
Biggest fear: getting injured again
My message to others: Know when to take a break because anyone can go too far and do too much thinking that they are invincible. It is easy to go too far for too long and realize too late that we’ve hurt ourselves more than we intended. So don’t take yourself too seriously and learn to relax once in a while…it’s ok if you miss a workout here and there. Your body might thank you for it ;)

DIANA BERARDI
Qualifications: I completed my bachelor degree at Concordia University in Athletic Therapy and passed my certification exam in June of 2007. I'm currently completing my last year in the Professional Masters program in Physiotherapy at McGill. I'm certified as a personal trainer through CSEP and received a certification for the Functional Movement Screen.
Sport: In terms of playing, soccer is my sport. However, watching is a different story: hockey hands down!
Why the fitness/therapy gig: I've always been interested in the health field but it was after observing how much therapy can improve a client's quality of life, that I knew this was for me. Whether it be treating back pain, helping a client lose weight, or working to improve hand arm function after a stroke, my mission is to reach out to as many people as I can to help them in whatever way I can. Having studied in Athletic therapy, physiotherapy and working as a personal trainer many years has allowed me to promote health in a variety settings. This is my passion.
Best known by clients for: I tend to steer away from machines and use free weights, pulleys, elastics, bozu ect. So I'm well known for finding creative ways to maximally 'torture' them as they put it haha :)
Favorite exercise: Hard to narrow down, but as long as I'm using cables I'm happy!
Biggest weakness: As healthy as I try to eat, my kryptonite: cookies and vanilla ice cream!!!
Secret to achieving wellness: Balance. Seeing as wellness involves mental and physical health, it is important to keep a balance in life in terms of work and play.
